Mayer Horwitz became "of counsel" to the firm after a successful 50 years of active practice. During his illustrious career, he held the preeminent peer review rating of AV, by Martindale-Hubbel, the authoritative resource for information on the worldwide legal profession. Mr. Horwitz graduated from Penn State University with a degree in Business Administration (1961 B.S.) And Temple University Law School (1964, J.D.)

Since the beginning of his legal career, Mr. Horwitz has been actively involved in the Philadelphia Bar Association. He was appointed to chair numerous committees, including the Compulsory Arbitration, the Alternative Dispute Resolution, the State Civil Judicial Procedural Rules Committees. After being elected to serve on the association’s Board of Governors, he won election to its Executive Board to serve the 13,000-member bar association as its Secretary.

Mr. Horwitz has had the privilege of serving as a Judge Pro Tempore on assignment from the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas since the program’s initiation in 1991. He was certified as a mediator by the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and conceived a Mediation Program for Philadelphia County Courts for which he was Chairman for over 300 Volunteer lawyer-mediators. He has been a lecturer for both state and local bar associations as well as the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, the American Judicature Society, the American Arbitration Association, and the American Bar Association.

From 1988-1989, Mr. Horwitz was elected as President of the Philadelphia Trial lawyers Association. Mr. Horwitz’s recognition and momentum from his local leadership propelled him to a seat on the Board of Governors of the Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association, one of the most powerful associations of justice in the Nation.

Mr. Horwitz was a designated Philadelphia Delegate to the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s House of Delegates, where he served on various committees. Mr. Horwitz has been appointed by the Disciplinary Board to serve as a Chairman of a Hearing Committee, to assist the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania in performing its constitutional duty to regulate attorney conduct. Mr. Horwitz has served as the Vice-Chairman of the American Bar Association’s Tort & Insurance Practice Committee. He was appointed to the Alternative Dispute Resolution Section of the 400,000 member association, which is representative of the entire legal profession in the United States.

Mr. Horwitz has served as Chancellor of the Tau Epsilon Rho Law Society’s Philadelphia Graduate Chapter, where he was also National Scholar and National Treasurer. In 2009, he was the inaugural President of the Lousi D. Brandeis Law Society Foundation. That same year, the Brandeis Law Society presented Mr. Horwitz with the Benjamin F. Levy Community Service Award recognizing his sustained commitment to serving the legal and broader community. The Foundation has honored him by creating an annual scholarship in his name. He has also received a Chapel of Four Chaplains Legion of Honor Award, an organization comprised of community leaders, advocates for cultural harmony, and religious tolerance.

Being ever vigilant to the protection of the freedoms granted by the founding forefathers of our great nation, Mr. Horwitz served as a member of the Board of the United States Selective Service System, which provides manpower to the armed forces in an emergency.
